Tata sky --"the jingalala of ur money"


The real story of almost all the companies in the service industry in India. Now Tata Sky has upped their monthly rental to Rs 300 i.e. a 50% increase from the previous one. Andthey had been telling us all along that the increase will not bedrastic. Need to find out, whats more in the store for the consumers.

Someone explain why is the voucher priced at Rs 550 when the subscription charges are Rs 200 or Rs 300. It does not make sense because it cannot last for 2 months even. Or is it that eventually Tata Sky’s monthly subscription rate will go up to Rs 550 and that is what was kept in mind while keeping the voucher price at 550??

All the customers are being taken for a ride here. All those who have purchased the Tata Sky subscription, have already paid Rs 3000 towards the set top box and installation charges and all that. Now if Tata Sky hikes their monthly rental to Rs 550 or more, what are you going to do. Your 3000 is already gone. and according to the fine print, you do not even own the STB and the dish.

Hello!! Wake up!!
We already know the service level of Tata in the cellphone and the broadband sector. Hundreds of people are crying to get their money back/pathetic services, callous attitude of the customer care, billing issues and you name it. Lets wait for some serious competiton. Dish TV is already a standard in pathetic services. Tata Sky is a touch better that most of the people have got their connections up and running very smoothly, and in good time. But its just few months old. Watch out for the surprises.

Hi I am one of the probable customers who are still trying to get the hardware (digicomp etc) at home after paying them in advance.
05-10-07 – This is the day when I decided to go for Tatasky subscription (don’t know why), I simply went to their website and found a telephone number to subscribe. I thought to book it directly instead of through any dealer in expectation of good and prompt service. I paid through credit card and the executive sweetly told me that I would get the hardware within 3 DAYS. That makes 08th the Monday.

08-10-07 (Monday) – I called them in afternoon to ensure whether they have dispatched the hardware so somebody is at home when it comes. But again some sweetly speaking call center executive told me “Sir, it takes 3 WORKING DAYS and Sat & Sun it is off here”. I thought ok, on 5th, either I heard incorrectly or she told me incorrectly. Any way I will wait till 10th Oct, Wednesday.

Now come Wednesday, I again called their call center in afternoon to know the status of my consignment. See, how bad I am in mathematics, it is only 2 and half days, whereas I was told for 3 days. I got this answer from their call center let 3 days be over you may get it in Wednesday night. I thought very good service, providing based on actual hours calculation…good. But nobody knocked at my door till evening. Ensuring that 72 working hours are over, I again I called them up and got a sweet reply “Sir, we are very sorry, we register your complaint and there will be action in next 24 hrs. I said ok.

Now come next day, Thursday, I again did the mistake and called in day time to know the status, now again a sweet reply “ Sir, what I see in your account, you have registered a complaint and we have assured for action in next 24 hrs, but sir 24hrs are not over. I thought for a while, what to do with, as I was in office and did not talk much and waited for evening and called again. Shockingly again I was given next 24hrs time for the action. I will not stretch this much, as expected this happened again on Friday evening and my one more complaint is waiting for the desired action. And now today it is Saturday. You can understand, Sat and Sun are NOT WORKING DAYS. So wait this cycle will again start on Monday.


Now I am trying to see any office address on website (tatasky.com) I don’t see any. Should not the site, which are for commercial purpose, mention their registered office, address. Law should make it mandatory to mention the office address and contact person name on such websites. Even I cant find to which group of TATA this Tatasky belongs I am feeling cheated as I have only one number to contact, that too is not solving my problem. I may have loss of money, which I paid, but what about the commitment made to me by the biggest industrial group TATA. Hope Mr. Ratan Tata would read it some time.
