Mirror Mirror Answer me. Is sachin the greatest?

Comments by ex cricketers(Ian chappel and others).. media furious over sachin.. doubts among his loyal supporters..

What is his future?? and what is the future of indian cricket without sachin??

Ya, I stood before a HONEST Mirror and asked the mirror, Is there still some magic left in his bat????

The mirror told me..

A 15 year kid was booed and asked to go and drink milk by 1000s of paki supporters, but the kid replied by hitting 4 sixes of, the all time best spin wizard abdul quadir..

The mirror immediately added that, it is not just history even two months back when every one was criticising him for not hitting a match winning hundred he hit a 100 of 76 balls, which proves that he has lot of fuel in him..

I ASKED THE MIRROR IS SACHIN BLOCKING THE ENTRY OF SOME YOUNGSTERS?

The mirror told me, well even in the recently concluded ranji trophy, sachin was the only composed batsman in both the teams to destroy the best bowling attack of that season, who else can replace him? who has played better than him in the domestic circuit?

I THEN ASKED THE MIRROR IS LARA BETTER THAN SACHIN TODAY?

The mirror told me, noways.. sachin still want to open and control the proceedings unlike lara who comes in at 3rd, 4th or 5th down to escape the new ball and to play out the 5th and 6th bowler of the opposition.. and there is not a single match winning innings of lara for the past two years, and the MIRROR asked me if i can name a odi match winning innings or lara.

I THEN ASKED THE MIRROR WHO IS THE GREATEST INDIAN CRICKETER?

The mirror answered me.. "I dont know about the greatest indian cricketer", but I can tell you about the greatest player to play this game ever and his name is Sachin Tendulkar..

I asked the mirror WHY?

The mirror replied, when a country was completely deprived of economic, intellectual, natural and sporting wealth. And when half the gold of our country was given to the world bank for loan and when india was considered as a third world nationand when we indians lacked confidence even to keep our heads high.. when the whole nation was craving for a reason to be proud of.. and when even a fourth position in olympics (PT usha) was considered as a great achievement and a thing to cherish.. a star arose.. sorry a SUN arose.. a 15 year old kid made the indians proud...

Proved that world records can be created even by indians.. he not only changed the indian cricket single handedly.. he changed the outlook of indians single handedly..

Indians were no more losers.. they too can achieve.. he inspired a generation and many more generations to come..

The cricketers of the same team who are elder to him now (Rahul dravid) got inspired form that kid..

And that kid carried the burdens in his shoulders to make a millions to smile. So, He is the greatest sporting personality ever.

I THEN ASKED THE MIRROR IS HE NOT EARNING A LOT AND IS HE NOT SPENDING LOT OF TIME IN ADVERTISEMENTS?

The mirror replied me, well a CEO who is carrying the burden and responsibility of a company is paid a lot, should a person who is carrying the responsibility of a whole nation, not be paid heavily?

Moreover, knowing his responsiblities he has never used his star status to do wrong things, When UBgroup approached him with a heavy amount he simply refused to do an ad for king fisher mineral water.

He is earning a lot and unlike Mr. Steve waugh(taking nothing away from his deeds) he does a lot of things without media hypes for orphans, people with cancer and eye problems.. should such a person not earn more.. Mr. Laloo who has criticised the cricketers and has earned in billions by corruption can he not earn money by his hard work??

I THEN ASKED THE MIRROR WHAT IS THE FUTURE?

The mirror answered me, i am not a magical mirror to tell you future. But i am a honest mirror, I dont know what lies ahead, but without sachin cricket will become just like another sport, you can produce world champions, record breakers and heroes but nobody can inspire a nation for 18 years like what the master has done.

I THEN ASKED THE MIRROR, WHAT ABOUT THE CRITICISM OF THE FORMER PLAYERS?

The mirror answered me, They are doing their duty sincerely and we should not blame them, the media want them to write and pays them so in return the media should earn so they write against the most popular hero so that the program, newspaper or electronic article will be seen by many. They are earning money and fame for themselves and their employers, nothing wrong in that.

I ASKED THE MIRROR, SO WHAT IS WRONG?

The mirror answered me, you stupid, unloyal, shameless, heartless, senseless and brainless idiot.. you enjoyed his batting for nearly two decades and boasted about him and his cricket for nearly two decades and after a two match failure you ditch him and ask for his retirement and believe in those critics than believing in the master. So all the mistake is in your side..

He opened for india and took india single handedly for semi finals and then to finals and against his wish he was brought down the order and both times india failed even to qualify for further rounds.. and you blame him for everything.

It also added that "I dont want to reply to people with short term memory loss like you. good bye".

And ALAS! the mirror became dumb.. and i could not talk to it anymore..

SORRY guys.. now it is upto u to say..

PN:This is an article by one of my friend who is a true fan of sachin like me, most of the things written here happened to both of us. So i felt like sharing with ull..

hi Abhay,
A nice post,me being(was)a die hard Sachin fan could not
resist commenting...

Well, the first thing that we all Indians do is look back at history,
if you glance at Sachin's history, he might have many unbreakable records, but no World Cup title to his name Whereas an ordinary player like Darren Lehmann(Aus)has 2 world cup titles under his belt. Cricket is not a individuals sport, its a team sport and in every century scored by Sachin, He has had partnerships with other players.

As far as Sachin is concerned, He too agrees that he is ageing is not the same as he used to play 15 yrs ago and the injuries have made things even worse for him.(his 100's,avg decreasing in last 3 yrs)

I respect Sachin for all the gr8 knocks and think he should consider packing his bag, make way for youngsters before being dropped.

But i really feel there is lot of cricket left in him, atleast he should continue for 2 more years!!

The amount of motivation he gives to the team is more than enough to add to that he can bowl better than harbhajan singh..

I just cant imagine INDIAN team without sachin, i agree that he is not the same sachin 15yrs ago, but it is not easy to find a player of his caliber so easily!!

I do agree that is not easy to find a player like sachin so easily, but sooner or never, he would be replaced than y not now??

But i personally agree with u that he should continue for atleast 2 years!!

Sorry to say,
Except the two matches in sharjah in 1999 I think, Sachin never single handedly took india to victory.

Even lara has won more matches single handedly!!

Abhay said...

Ya ya.. you are right

of 380 matches that sachin played for india only one match he has won single handedly that is that sharjah cup finals. ok dude..

and all the other 50 odd man of the match awards were given to him for taking india to defeat.. the match referee and the other dignitories are stupids..

They have to be, because you cannot be wrong..

Though lara has less than half the number of man of the match awards, he has won more than 100 matches single handedly.. very true...

As Rajesh rightly put forward, apart fm Sharjah, we can't associate any better knock of Sachin.
But today, with the inclusin of 20-20 version the game is become fast and you have no time to live on the greats of your previous outings.
How long can Sachin motivate young players by simply being in the team and not scoring.
And if you observe carefully,in the recent fixtures, when Sachin got out, he would quickly reason it out saying that the pitch was not proper, uneven bounce,..etc,etc..By such a behavior, do you think the young players will ever be motivated?

thank you guys.. we need not support him..

just consider the case.. there is a great indian soldier, who has fought many great battles for india and now he has become old. but still the best indian soldire and now recently he has lost a war and is severely wounded.

What will we do. will we support him and will we be in his side? or will we ask for his sacking knowing fully well that there is not a single soldire in the country who is half as good as him..

We are indians... and our history says that we have killed our own heroes.. starting from jayachandra (father in law of pritviraj) to all the soldires who supported the britishers to kill our own heroes like, nanasaheb, tantia tope, laxmi bhai and so on til our own indian soldires killing the army of SC Bose, who fought for indian freedom..

The story is stil the same.. Believing the words of a foreigner (ian chappel) to kill our greatest hero...
Battle field has changed, but not the mindset of the warriors..

But only difference is unlike other heroes.. sachin will not end in the losing side..

You guys need not support him.. he will win irrespective of ur criticism or fuctuating support

@rajesh

That is a nice question in fact..

1) When does india dont want sachin to score?
2) Which is a critical match?
3) If we will discard all the matches of 2003 world cup other than the finals and say that sachin failed when it really mattered in the finals, then why are we expecting him to score in the league phase match that too against bangladesh?

4) If srilanka match is the most important match, then wat about bangladesh match that too very first match in the league phase(nt even super 8)? was that not important?

5) If bangladesh match is very important, then wat about his performances in 2003 world cup.. agaist a formidable zimbabwe, a competitive england, a dangerous pakisthan, a strong srilanka and a darkhorse kenya?? were those matches not important??

The simple fact is we want him to perform in every match. the yardsticks are different.
Why people are forgetting that it is a team game..
ponting scored a century in the final, but he failed miserably in the league phase.. it was his team which brought aussies to the final and he performed in one match and got all the fame.. and if we want sachin to win 10 out of 10 matches and that too after depriving him of his favorite position. it is sheer madness..

Ok, till now we have been giving our opinions on Sachin's future.

But lets go to the bigger Question. Is Sachin the Greatest??

In his generation, having seen him play, we can call him a great player. Having scored ard 75 international 100's speaks volume.
